Two Weeks Postpartum

Our new little bundle of joy turned two weeks old today.
He is now 8.2 lbs, from 6.1 lbs. Glad he's growing fast!
I lost 20 lbs... but since I gained a total of 47 lbs during my pregnancy, I still have 27 more lbs to lose! Eek. It's not gonna be easy, that's for sure.
I went to the mall the other day, and two people I knew asked me when I'm due. [Okay, I get it, I still look pregnant.]

A few days after, I went with my husband to get his hair cut. Some stranger seated beside me, trying to be friendly asked me how far along I am. [I guess if its some consolation, at least I no longer look like I'm full-term].

Kuya Kaden got his head shaved...
and contracted a viral infection (it's unrelated, I know)
and then mommy and poor baby Chace ended up getting it too. :(

Daddy is getting to be an expert on babysitting.
Although sometimes, he confuses his role.

Chace's First Doctor's Appointment

Our little boy is a miracle baby. Following my surgery at 5 weeks gestation, most people were not optimistic about my pregnancy. Even my ob-gyn confessed that she gets nervous during every ultrasound because she doesn't know what to expect. But our baby is a fighter, and we're mighty proud of him.

So 8 days after his delivery, here we are at his [and mommy's] pediatrician's clinic for his baby checkup.

We are so blessed, and very thankful for it.

So, I didn't get my wish of delivering by March. I'm glad though that he came on his own time... catching even me by surprise.

April 1. I had my doctor's appointment, and was very disappointed to find that I was only a fingertip dilated... still no sign that labor was gonna come any time soon. I shared my frustration with my ob-gyn, who gave me samples of Evening Primrose Oil (herbal) to aid in the dilatation and effacement [No approved therapeutic claims]. After dinner, I started having regular contractions, but the pain stopped when I woke up the next morning.

April 2. I walked around town with my mom and our maid for some "exercise". Arrived him around 4 pm and [happily] found that I lost my mucus plug. I excitedly dragged my mom to my ob-gyn [5pm], but was once again disappointed when she said that I was only 1 cm dilated and was very far from effacement. She advised me to go back to the clinic the next day to check if there was going to be any progress. Frustrated, I went to bed early after dinner that night.

April 3. [12 am] I woke up and peed, and I noticed a gush of fluid before my urine came out that I knew for certain was not urine. Since I was in no serious pain, I went online to chat with Art & my friend Fons. I even got to update my facebook status.

[12:35 am] I told both Art & Fons that I had to use the toilet, on my way to there my water bag broke! So I woke both my mom and dad up and told them I think we needed to go to the hospital. Then I went to take a shower (hygiene first!). By then, the pain was getting worse and the contractions getting closer and closer.

[12:55 am] Because I take so long so shower, by the time we left the house I felt like I was already 9 cm dilated, and I probably was.

[A little past 1 am] When we arrived at the hospital, I could tell that the baby was going to come out any minute now. I begged the emergency room nurses to skip the internal examination because I can already feel the baby's head, good thing they listened and sent me directly to the delivery room while my mom took care of the admission papers.

Elevator Scene:

Me: Please apura, sale ya gad. (Please hurry, the baby is really coming out now)
Manong pushing the stretcher: Ma'am blow blow lang muna.
Me: Nooooo [while removing my undies hahaha], please sale ya gad (Please, it's really coming out!)

Delivery Room Scene:

Me: [begging voice] Dali dali, manong, numa ya man stop. (Hurry hurry manong, don't stop anymore)
Nurse: How many centimeters? Is her doctor coming?
Me: Sale ya gad!!! (It's coming out!!!)
Nurse: Ma'am please change into the hospital gown and remove your bra.
Me: No!!! Arrrgh (Iri number #1)
Nurses: Ayyy ta pari ya! (She's giving birth now!) *hurrying up to put their gloves
Me: Arggh!! (Iri number #2) *Baby's head pops out.
Nurses: Hala! hala. *hurrying to catch
[1:17 am] Me: Arrrrgh! (Iri number #3) *Baby's body comes out
