Event Stylist/Florist: JOYCE AGUILAR of 2171 FLORAL CREATIONS
Equally as important as having a good photographer is having something beautiful to shoot. So the bride & the groom as subjects are given (heheh), the gown, what else? The event styling makes a difference too.
Majority of the weddings in Zamboanga are being held at Astoria Regency (where our wedding was held), and we knew wanted a different feel to the place for ours. So we decided to fully drape the convention center. While full draping is common in Manila and other places, ours was the first time that it was ever done in Zamboanga City.
Joyce did a pretty good job with the flowers and the dressing up of the place. She is very easy to talk to especially if you have special requests. She is flexible and is always in a happy disposition :). Aside from being a great florist and event stylist, she has become a friend.
For the reception, I wanted all white flowers to be used [ala Preston Bailey]. But it was going to be difficult to keep them fresh and white, chances are they will turn brownish by the time the guests arrive, so we had to scratch that idea. I decided to have all red roses then, and specifically requested to eliminate all the green. I wanted to keep the reception setup as clean and simple as possible. I didn't want to hire a landscape artists (like most people do here) or have bridges and pots on our reception setup.

Joyce also did a pretty great job with her "focal point", her huge crystallized chandelier. :)
Personalized Gobo Lights:
My bouquet, made of ecuadorian roses and red peonies:
I requested all white for the bridesmaids and secondary sponsors, so there would be a contrast with their red gowns :)

The only other option we had for flowers and event styling was April & Karen Yu, but they were charging a Birkin and a Kelly to come down to Zamboanga. Tsk!Makeup Artist: ANGIE CRUZ
Hair: OGIE RAYEL
My first choice for makeup was Madge Lejano, but when I called to book she was already taken for our date! :( My only other option were Angie Cruz because looking at their clients (from w@w) I found that his/her style was safe and simple. I didn't have time to have a trial done since all my time in Manila is limited, so I gave them a call and booked them.
There were people who commented that my makeup was "too simple" and they didn't like it. Actually, I liked my makeup because I specifically asked Angie to please give me a "no makeup look". I didn't want to look too made up and I was scared of looking like a mamaw on my wedding day! I've seen brides whose makeups were overly done that you don't recognize them anymore and the thought seriously scares me! I wish though that Angie agreed to my request of using false eyelashes :(. I noticed that although Angie does makeup for Shu Uemura, her makeup is not limited to Shu.
Ogie is really amazing with hair, you can see his work all over the fashion magazines especially Preview which is my favorite. He even gave me a Kiehl lipbalm as "remembrance".
The Angie & Ogie tandem is very easy to work with, they are very low maintenance and have zero demands. I admire their work attitude, and I'm excited that Angie's doing my makeup for my friend Jenny's wedding in October.
Invites: The Write Impressions
Jong of The Write Impressions was very accommodating, and they didn't mind that we reached 17 drafts before reaching the final design. Unfortunately, I have no pictures of the faux wax seal we put on the envelope which a lot of people liked.
We wanted to keep our invites as simple and classy as possible. :)
